As a person with a disability, I thank state Sens. (Bob) Mellow and (Ray) Musto, and state Reps. (Todd) Eachus, (Phyllis) Mundy, (John) Yudichak, (Jim) Wansacz and (Michael) Carroll.
They voted for legislation that enables Luzerne County to finally join a state-funded transportation program for people with disabilities.
Luzerne County is one of 16 counties without the program. I urge the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Transportation Department to apply for the program.
The time for excuses has passed. The state will be offering money to buy more vehicles and discount 85 percent of the fare.
This is about creating greater independence and quality of life for people with disabilities who could not get to work, school or other activities without it.
These are the same rights and desires that all Americans want.
